Wisdom Teeth or 3rd Molars

There a many reasons that wisdom teeth (third molars) should be removed. Some of these reasons include: pain for the patient, inability to keep the wisdom teeth clean, and the angle at which the teeth are erupting. Third molar surgery is a common procedure at my office. Each surgery is different, so I will need to talk to you personally about your case, but there are a few generalizations. Most people have four wisdom teeth, and I recommend removing all four at the same time. This way the patient only has to go through the recovery period once, rather than multiple times. There are risks associated with any type of surgery, including third molar surgery. The major risks are: opening the sinus, permanent numbness in the lower jaw, dry sockets, and infection. Each risk will be discussed on a one-on-one basis with you. I can assure you that I use great caution to try and avoid complications during and after the surgery.
